Titans take provincial championship

The Etobicoke Titans AAA Mosquito baseball team has won the West Mountain Toppers Pizza Tournament in Hamilton. The 11-year-olds won the final game by a score of 5 to 3, coming out on top of 12 teams from across Ontario. The Titans are playing in six tournaments this summer in preparation for a week-long tournament in Cooperstown, New York, next year.

Results are in for girl's Ontario basketball championships

Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough and Bloor West basketball teams came home with medals from the 2008 Ontario Cup Girls Basketball Championships in London and Windsor held from March 25 to 27.

The Etobicoke Storm U10 novice, division 2, with the Etobicoke Basketball Association, won gold.

The North Toronto Huskies U10 novice, division 3, with the North Toronto Basketball Association, took home fourth place honours.

The Scarborough Blues U11 atom division 1, with the Scarborough Basketball Association, won the bronze medal.

Toronto Triple Threat, U12 major atom, division 1, who are based in Bloor West, won fourth place in the championships.

About 114 teams from across Ontario competed in three age categories in 12 divisions.

Boys hockey championships face off this week

The boys high school hockey city championship quarter-finals were held Tuesday.

Northview Heights Secondary School from North York beat out Northern Secondary School North Toronto 4-3 at East York Arena.

In the other quarterfinal game at East York Arena, Humberside Collegiate from Bloor West Village beat York Mills Collegiate from North York 8-3.

The two other quarterfinal games were played at North York's Herb Carnegie Arena, and saw Etobicoke Collegiate beat Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate of Scarborough 8-2; and Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate from Scarborough defeat Richview Collegiate of Etobicoke 8-2.

The semifinals will be held on Wednesday and the city championship game will be on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Herb Carnegie Arena.
